Job Summary:

As a Controller, you are a highly skilled and experienced accounting professional committed to maintaining financial integrity and providing strong fiscal leadership. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing a team, overseeing complex financial processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards as well as Federal and State regulations. Your role is pivotal in maintaining our client’s financial health and supporting its mission.

Job Responsibilities:

• Financial Oversight: Oversee general ledger and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial accounts.

• Leadership and Training: Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants and Fiscal Assistants to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.

• Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management. Assist with the compiling of financial documents such as business reports, forecasts, and statements to provide insight into the organization's financial health.

• Audit Management: Manage the coordination and completion of annual financial audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

• Cost Management: Monitor financial reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to reduce expenses.

• Policy Implementation: Assist with the development and enforce policies and procedures for financial reporting, ensuring the organization meets legal and regulatory standards.

• Payroll and Transactions: Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Billings functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions.

• Budget Preparation: Assist with preparing the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

• Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain sound financial controls based on client’s Fiscal policy and procedures, Generally Accepted Account Principles and the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Ensure confidentiality and security of financial data.

• Analytical Support: Provide analytical support, including project analysis and variance reporting, to inform decision-making processes.

• Other Duties: Complete special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

• Education and Certification: Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting and a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate.

• Experience: 5+ years of fiscal management experience with a deep understanding of the Code of Federal Regulations and state financial regulations; experience understanding multiple grant funding sources

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in GAAP accounting principles, internal controls, and reporting standards. Strong competency with online enterprise accounting systems and Office 365 applications.

• Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly; ability to present financial information to a variety of audiences, including Client’s governing board

• Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to plan, organize, and implement financial programs, policies, and procedures while driving operational excellence.

• Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify financial processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Sage Intacct, GP Dynamics or other enterprise accounting software.

• Experience with HRIS and Payroll Systems

• Grant management experience.
